Riehen, Zwitserland

Our house is situated in a quiet and green quarter 5 km from Basel. We have on two floors five bedrooms with eight beds and two bathrooms, and in the cellar is a finish sauna. On the ground floor there are the living room with a fireplace stove and a big dining room with an open kitchen and all usual comfort. In front of the living room there is a winter garden (with a big terrace over it) and a sunny place.
The absolutely calm garden, surrounded by trees, isn’t very large, but offers enough place for resting and playing. There are a barbecue, a fireplace and for little children a playhouse, a sandbox and different playthings. Only 200m away there is a playground for smaller children. Our house is also well equipped for children (cot, high chair etc.). We have many Duplos, a Brio train, puzzles and numerous games. If desired, we can organise additional bikes and a children's bike trailer.
Riehen is situated in a hilly landscape at the end of the Wiesen-Valley and the southern end of the Black Forest with his lavish and wild romantic nature, rolling hills and mountains up to 1400 meters. There are also some beautiful lakes within 1 hour drive.
Basel, an ancient city on the Rhine bordered by three nations, is not only university city and centre of many fairs and exhibitions, but also has a lot of things to offer to tourists and children: Boat trips on the Rhine, the cathedral, the old town with picturesque gothic sections, pedestrian areas for shopping and strolls, a famous zoo, many museums, theatres and cinemas, open-air performances and concerts, parks and the botanical garden.
The climate is here very mild. In the surroundings you can make walking-tours, excursions by bike and other trips. For example there are many middle aged castels and ruins waiting to be discovered. Within one hour by car, bus or train you will get to different rewarding places, such as the picturesque Roman theatre at Augst, the stalactite cavern and the bird park in the Wiesen-Valley, the amusement park "Europapark" in Germany, the Alsace with an interesting open air museum, Zurich, Berne, Lucerne (Vierwaldstätter Lake, Mount Pilatus) and the Swiss Alps.
