Three bedroom apartment in Reykjavik westend. Single floor with ground level private entry and large balcony facing south. Large modern open kitchen and living room with large windows to south balcony. Separate TV room and washing room. Easy 15 minute walk downtown and a bus stop on the spot. Nice and quiet neighborhood with a swimming pool, cafés, restaurants, bakery, grocery store etc. within a 5 minute walk.

Dichtstbijzijnde luchthaven: Keflavik International Airport - 50 km (46 min. by car)
Our neighborhood is called Vesturbær (westend) and is very close to the Reykjavik downtown area, where there are great variety of restaurants, designer shops, cafés, bars and other activities.
This can also be felt in the harbour area to the west of downtown which was very quiet a few years ago but is now becoming quite trendy – should be an interesting walk.
Don´t miss: Vesturbæjarlaug (the westend swimming pool), a few minutes walking distance from the apartment. To top the experience there is a beautiful café right next to the swimming pool. Sundlaug Seltjarnarness is another great swimming pool which is also close by. Both pool are among top 5 swimming pools in Reykjavík.
Few ideas within walking distance
- Walking/biking path along north shoreline to lighthouse (Gróttuviti) and golfcourse (Golfklúbbur Seltjarnarness). If you like birdwatching you should hang around Bakkatjörn.
- Walking/biking path along south shoreline to thermal beach (Nauthólsvík)
- Through University area to Nordic house for culture and cafe/restaurant
- Walk to National library and National museum
Few ideas to do downtown
- National and Reykjavik Art Museum, Culture house
- Boat trip from Reykjavik harbour, whale watching etc.
- Harpa - Concert hall
In short walking/driving distance there are several bakeries, supermarkets, pharmacies and ice cream parlours. And like mentioned above – restaurants, bars and cafés.
Reykjavik domestic airport is only few minutes away by car and also Reykjavik Bus terminal (BSÍ).

Over onze familie
We are a family of four, Hannes (dad), Nanna (mom), Sigrún (daughter) and Lísa (daughter) and our appartment and the four of us has lived here together for 20 years. But now Sigrún has flown from the nest and moved to an appartment nearby. We also have two wonderful sons in-law, Árni and Kári.
We also have the most wonderful dog in the world, a miniature schnauzer called Fróði (Frodo). He will be away in summercamp (his "grandparents" or amma og afi as we say in Icelandic).
We look forward to hear from someone from the Intervac family that likes to exchange homes this summer.
