Altmünster is an ideal calm touring base for visiting charming historical cities like Gmunden (2km), Bad Ischl (30km - European Cultural Capital 2024), Hallstatt, St.Wolfgang (40km), Salzburg (80km)... as well as exploring great nature: many lakes, green hills and high mountains! Some of the higher mountains can be crested by ropeway too :-). You'll find a lot of hiking trails nearby. Our region also offers a variety of cultural events f.e. in Gmunden (www.festwochen-gmunden.at) and other places like Salzburg and Linz. Also during summer you will find a variaty of (classical) concerts in our region!
Vienna can be reached by train or car in 2,5 hours (Altmünster has a railway station). On the photos you can see some parts of our house in Altmünster. We have a big garden with sunny terraces and table-tennis. We have a lot of Lego, Playmobil, Puzzles and board games... Supermarkets, farmacy, cash machine and bakery are in walking distance (5 min) as well as the lake and beach (10 min to go).
Vivimos en Altmünster (en Austria alta), que está situado en el oeste del lago "Traunsee". Está rodeada de colinas y montañas y tiene multitud de lugares agradables para hacer senderismo o escalar.
Esta región se llama "Salzkammergut" y tiene unas ciudades interesantes para visitar (como Gmunden, Bad Ischl, Salzburgo...), maravillosos pueblos como Traunkirchen, Hallstatt y St. Wolfgang así como una gran cantidad de lagos bonitos. A 5 minutos a pie de nuestra casa hay una panadería, supermercado, farmacia, banco… El lago y la playa están a 10 minutos a pie.

Our holiday at Monika and Walter’s home was a wonderful experience. We had the opportunity to meet them before the exchange which was lovely and they gave us many tips and a lot of information to help us make the most of our stay.. Their house is spacious, welcoming and with everything you need for a relaxing time. Their large garden and balconies are great places to enjoy the beautiful surrounding scenery. We absolutely loved this part of Austria and our time at Monika and Walter’s home. Thank you.
The lovely house of Judith and Paul was an ideal place to explore beautiful Dorset with its spectacular coast! We had a wonderful holiday here and, very convenient for us, we could reach all sightseeing places by public transport! Communication with Judith and Paul was very easy and enjoyable, with helpful recommendations for our stay!
Wir waren in regem Austausch mit unseren Haustauschern während des ganzen Urlaubs, so konnten wir alle Fragen und kleinere Probleme unkompliziert lösen! Sie gaben uns auch viele Empfehlungen (trad. Essen, Besichtigungen und gerade stattfindende Feste, öffentl. Verkehr...) für unseren Aufenthalt in Cádiz, so dass wir uns wirklich wie "Einheimische" fühlten ...und einen wunderschönen Urlaub in ihrem gemütlichen Haus und der tollen Stadt genossen haben! Wie besonders / schön Haustauschurlaub im Vergleich zu konventionellem Urlaub ist erlebten wir deutlich als wir im Anschluss an die Zeit in Cádiz noch 5 Tage eine Ferienwohnung in Sevilla mieteten... auch nett, aber kein "gemütliches Daheim" wie eine Haustauschwohnung!
Monika and Walter home is a very nice place in which you can feel at home. A lovely house very comfortable and with all the amenities necessary to have a lovely staying. They are very helpful not only during the exchange but also before it. They gave us a lot of wonderful recommendations to enjoy our vacations.

Monika (68, retired social worker) and Walter (68, retired med. doctor), we have 3 adult children and 5 little grandchildren who live in Germany, Vienna and Helsinki (Herttoniemi). So we have to travel a lot to meet our children ;-). One or other of them may join us for holiday for some time... We are interested in home exchange with Helsinki any time of the year.
We speak German and English...yo hablo y entiendo un poco de español :-)
