Daytrips:
It is only a 40 minute drive/bus service to beautiful Victoria, the province's Capital. Here you can visit the famous Empress Hotel where Her Majesty the Queen stays, the BC Parliment Buildings, the world famous Butchard Gardens, numerous restaurants, theatres, museums, quaint shops, and upscale shopping malls.
It is a 1 hour 40 minute scenic ferry ride to Vancouver, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics.  Ferries leave hourly and bus tours can take you directly to downtown sights if you prefer not to drive.  
From Victoria you can also catch a ferry to Port Angeles, USA. Ferries/flights leave daily from Victoria to downtown Seattle, WA. and would make a great overnight side trip.
 Just a few minutes driving West from our home is the start of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail. This is a series of scenic beaches and hiking trails.  Pack a picnic for a wonderful day of exploring tidal pools, and maybe catch a glimpse of whales!  Plenty of wildlife to see!
