Flat in Cockermouth, Great Britain

In the Lake District of England, close to Scotland : 2 hours door-to-door to Glasgow and Edinburgh, two and a half hours hours from Liverpool and Manchester.
Cockermouth is a historic market town - birthplace of famous British poet William Wordsworth – and at the confluence of two rivers, 15 minutes from the mountains and fells. Flooded in 2009, the town is renovated and refreshed!
Our home is a two-storey flat on the first and second floor, with a landing and rear patio. Built pre-1700s, it has been renovated to reveal beams and brickwork but has a modern style and mod-cons. It stands in the oldest part of town in the market place with individual shops, traditional pubs and restaurants.
The town is a hidden gem with an art gallery (Castlegate House gallery), Wordsworth House (the home of William and Dorothy Wordsworth, now a National Trust building open to the public), the arty Kirkgate Theatre, cafes, antique shops, independent bookshops and the excellent Jennings Brewery (so you can see how beer is brewed and taste it!)  Cockermouth is great for history-lovers, photographers, art-lovers and lovers of the outdoors.
Leisure Centre (pool, gym, badminton, table tennis, climbing wall, aerobics) - 2 minutes walk.
Mountains - 15 minutes drive.
Watersports - 15 minutes drive (Derwent Water Marina).

Nearest train station is Penrith, 30 miles away, 40 minutes drive (three hours from London)
Grasmere (Wordsworth's Dove Cottage) - 45 minutes drive.
The house of Beatrix Potter - 1.5 hours drive.
