Philadelphia

Large 19th century home, huge yard/garden, approximately 1hour to beaches, NYC, Philadelphia
We live in a rural area, but at an intersection that connects to the city or the shore. Easy access to trains, should one not want to drive. We are conveniently located between ocean, the famous Pine Barrens, and high culture found in either New York City or Philadelphia (art, theater, orchestra, museums, zoos, restaurants, etc.) Within 5 miles (less than 10 minutes) to shopping, cinema, malls, etc.  Cultural and beautiful Princeton is ½ hour drive.  Our yard is enormous and is contiguous to farmland behind. There are many rivers, and we have 3 canoes and 2 kayaks. We also have bikes - very flat so easy cycling.  Large kitchen with glass-top stove, microwave, dishwasher, hand-made cabinets, and view of garden with patio, grill and outside eating. We are a couple in our 60s. My husband is a pastor and I direct a non-profit agency. We have a piano, many books to browse (art, theology, textiles, travel, nature). My husband is a birder and loves nature. I love art, culture and travel. I collect textiles and one could easily think they were in Central Asia, the Middle East or Africa from our decor.  Our son is married and lives in Grand Rapids, MI.

Copied below are helpful links and photos, if you are interested in the NJ Pine Barrens (hiking and canoeing), Great Adventure (huge amusement park), biking, the Jersey Shore beaches, and Philadelphia. Also, much closer hiking and biking in immediate area to house- info provided personally in home.

Lifestyle

We have participated in hosting guests,or being received as guests over 10 times, in addition to the 5 simultaneous exchanges listed. We enjoy art, culture, history, and nature. We are looking to retire within the next couple of years- and will be more flexible with time and duration of visits. Both of us have Master's degrees and enjoy discovering new stimulating places in the world. The convenience of our location on the east coast of the US- makes many cities accessible (Princeton, Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, Washington DC, and even Boston if you don't mind driving) .
