Soignies is a medium sized rather cute town with his collegiate church Saint Vincent which has just been restored. In the 7th century this monk Vincent has founded an abbey here. The procession of its reliquary gathers numerous extras on every Pentecost monday. Our city is also an European center for the granite stone, it has several quarrays. The day before the 3rd Sunday of October, we celebrate Simpélourd who distributes his carabibis, followed by a whole folk procession.

Soignies has several facilities like a swimming pool, a hospital, an Intercity train station with two trains every hour to Brussels and Mons, several supermarkets and a historical city center with shops.

Soignies est un gros bourg plutôt mignon avec sa collégiale Saint-Vincent qui vient d'être restaurée. Ce dernier avait fondé ici une abbaye au 7ème siècle. La procession de sa châsse réunit de nombreux figurants chaque lundi de pentecôte. Notre ville est aussi un centre européen de la pierre de taille. La veille du 3ème dimanche d'octobre, on fête Simpélourd qui distribue ses carabibis, suivi de tout un cortège folklorique.

Soignies dispose de divers équipements, comme une piscine, un hôpital, une gare intercité avec deux trains par heure vers Bruxelles et Mons, divers supermarchés, un centre historique avec des commerces.
